I heard about the walled city in Saint-Malo. It sounds very intriguing. Can someone give me more details?(give a different answer) .
The walled city of Saint-Malo is known as Intramuros (within the walls) or Ville Close. It is at 15 min walk, west from the train station of St-Malo, along ave Louis Martin. It was initially an island that it got linked to the mainland by the isthmus of Le Sillon in the 13th century. The Second World War destroyed much of the town but the main historical monuments have been reconstructed. Go to the center of the town, in Place J. de Chatillon you will find Cathedrale St. Vincent then, walk to the ramparts (dating from the 18th century), from their northern part you will have a view over the ruins of Fort National.
