The obelisk was the property of Egypt and once stood in the Temple of Ramses at Thebes. In 1831, Muhammad Ali, the Egyptian pasha, offered it as a present to France. The pink granite giant is now overlooking the square like a pharaon on his throne. Can you believe the obelisk is abound 3300 years? My God! You can take metro Concorde and have a look for yourself...
