Try eating the boulevard :) (kidding). If you ask me what is the best restaurant in Montparnasse then I can only tell you one name : the 14 Juillet restaurant on rue Didot. They serve French specialties that will make your mouth water. Prices are decent too. Porte de Vanves is the closest metro station.
