hans's question:
How can man reach the island of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandie, France? By boat or by car...?(give a different answer) .
There's a one mile causeway or bay linking it to the mainland. When the tide is out, it can be crossed on foot on condition to have a guide, or, in the near future, on the bridge the French are planning to build. Only 100 people live on the island, perhaps fearing the galloping tides, that can vary 50 feet between low and high tides. The Gothic and Romanesque cathedral rises 500 ft above sea level and it is claimed to have witnessed Michael the Archangel apparition in 708 AD.
