What is to see in La Rochelle, beside the seaport?(give a different answer) .
You can spend a day visiting Ile de Re, an island connected to La Rochelle by an approx. 3 km bridge. Take a bus from Place de Verdun to get there. You will discover a lot of sunshine, fine-sand beaches, picturesque quays at Saint Martin. On the west side of the island there’s a bay known as Fier d’Ars with saltwater marshes and a bird reservation called Lileau des Niges.
