The Wine Road of Alsace, Colmar

Posted 1 year ago by nikon in response to simonetty's question: Give me some information about the Route du Vin, starting in Colmar. Worth strolling along it? (give a different answer) .

Sure, as long as you stop in each of the 100 wine villages lining post-card perfectly along the road (don't get stiff drunk, though!). This trail runs between the Vosges hills, displaying weird-shaped houses, half-timbered. Have your wine tastings at the local winstubs, as the Alsatians name their pubs; you have plenty to choose from: Riesling, Sylvaner, Muscat, Tokay-Pinot Gris. Alsace was actually called the "pantry and larder of Europe", so you'll come across rich farmland and dense orchards too.
