Mer de Glace, in translation Sea of Ice, which is the second largest in the Alps, but you'll need special gear and a guide in order to traverse the glacicier and its crevasses. More exactly, it's 14km long and 400 m deep, and the great thing about it is that it moves 45m every year. Mer de Glace can be reached on foot thanks to Grand Balcon Nord Trail from Plan de l'Aiguille.
