Well, besides the fact that it was the home town of writer Victor Hugo and of the film inventors, Lumiere brothers (all born in the now-named Victor Hugo square in the Besancon's old town), there isn't much to say about Besancon. It is quiet nice town with vast parks, clean streets and few tourists. It is also an university center with a large number of foreign students.
