The Pont D’Avignon from the rhyme is actually called Pont St. Benezet and was built in the twelfth century to link Avignon with the village across the Rhone later called Villeneuve-les-Avignon. Entry to the bridge museum costs 3.50 euro or you can get an Avignon Passion museum pass for discounts. For discount pass ask the tourist office.
