fhonny's question:
Does the stadium in Arles still host bullfights?(give a different answer) .
To my surprise, yes. The amphitheater of Arles dates back to 1st century BC, when the Romans organized gladiator fights. Later it was used as a fortress, and now hosts the Herdsmen feast or la Fete des Gardians. Every 1st May, the Confraternity of Gardians participate in a bullfight there, but it's actually a corrida, as the bulls are not killed. They emphasize on the grace and spectacle of the corrida, really praising those bulls. Arles is south of Avignon, 35 km away.
